The S5 sets new standards in terms of speed and aerodynamic efficiency – with impressive race victories to prove it. Whether it’s Wout van Aert’s commanding victory in the Green Jersey or Simon Yates’s ride to the Pink Jersey at the Giro d’Italia – the S5’s iconic V-Stem design and Bayonet fork have become an integral part of the world’s elite professional cycling scene. The new generation of the S5 builds on this legacy – even faster, sleeker and more efficient – making it the ultimate partner for the world’s fastest riders.

The new S5 is over 6 watts faster than its predecessor, 124 grams lighter, whilst retaining the agile, stable handling that riders worldwide appreciate. The biggest changes are at the front – where the aerodynamic effect is greatest: Deeper fork legs, a more substantial head tube area and a completely new one-piece handlebar-stem system that builds on and further improves the original V-Stem concept – for maximum efficiency in the wind.

Aero Aero Aero
The new S5 is 6.3 watts faster than its predecessor – and this performance boost is primarily down to the redesigned front end. However, the clever integration of the asymmetrical profiles of the seat tube and rear wheel also plays a decisive role in improving aerodynamics. Cervélo has always been regarded as an aerodynamic pioneer in the peloton – and we’re convinced that the new S5 is at least 5 watts faster than our competitors’ bikes.

One-Piece Handlebar/Stem
The HB19 is based on our ‘Plus-Four’ concept: the width at the hoods is 4 cm narrower than at the drops – e.g. 38 cm on the hoods / 42 cm on the drops. This geometry allows for a more aerodynamic riding position when riding on the hoods, whilst ensuring maximum stability on the drops – ideal for descents and sprints. All handlebar sizes are UCI-compliant, including in line with the latest rule changes.

Not just faster. Lighter too.
Despite a larger surface area, the new S5 is a full 124 grams lighter than its predecessor. Although the deeper fork and the larger-diameter head tube do add a little more weight initially, an optimised carbon lay-up structure and a revised hardware design have enabled us to make the overall system noticeably lighter.

This bike arrives (almost) fully assembled. All you need to do is straighten the handlebars and fit the pedals.

Important safety information

You will find the most comprehensive overview of relevant safety information and warnings in our bicycle user manual at . Please visit the following link to view the full manual at : Manual

We have listed a few important points for you below. Please note that this list is not exhaustive and we cannot guarantee its completeness .

1. Assembly and operation: Ensure that all components of the bicycle are fully assembled in accordance with the instruction manual at . Only use the bicycle once all bolts and nuts have been tightened to the specified torque. Read the user manual and all additional documentation carefully before using the bicycle for the first time.

2. Permissible load: Do not exceed the permissible total load of the bicycle, as this may lead to the breakage or failure of important safety components . The braking system is designed only for the permissible total load.

3. Laws and regulations: Observe all local and national cycling laws and regulations. These include, amongst others, licensing, compulsory helmet use, child seats, cycling traffic laws, and regulations regarding lights and reflectors.

4. Bicycle registration: You must register your bicycle in order to make a warranty claim . Keep the user manual for future reference and consult your specialist dealer if you have any questions regarding assembly and maintenance.

5. Modifications and adjustments: Modifications to your bicycle’s components may compromise safety and invalidate the warranty. Not all components or accessories have been tested for compatibility and safety. Consult your specialist dealer before making any changes to your bicycle.

6. Chassis and suspension: Incorrect adjustment of the suspension can lead to malfunctions and increase the risk of losing control and having an accident. Check the suspension regularly for visible damage and have any leaks or damage repaired immediately by your specialist dealer.

7. Wheel safety: Do not ride with a wheel or axle that is not properly secured. This could cause the wheel to move or come loose from the bike, resulting in an accident. Consult the axle manufacturer’s instructions for correct installation.

8. Brake levers and seat adjustments: Ensure that you can reach the brake levers whilst your hands are positioned securely on the handlebars. A brake that is out of reach can lead to loss of control and an accident.

9. Disc brakes: Do not touch disc brakes or rotors immediately after use, as they become very hot and can cause burns. Allow them to cool completely before touching them.

10. Handlebars and head tube: Adjustments to the handlebar height should only be carried out by a specialist dealer. Incorrect installation may damage the fork steerer tube and cause an accident. Do not remove spacer rings from the fork steerer tube.

11. Rotor sizes: Observe the fork manufacturer’s rotor size restrictions. A rotor larger than recommended may compromise the fork, frame or other components and lead to an accident.

12. Handlebar grips and end caps: Use handlebar end caps to cover the ends of the handlebars . Uncovered handlebar ends may cause injury in the event of an accident.

13. Saddle height adjustment: Incorrect saddle height adjustment can lead to falls, injuries and/or death. We recommend that all assembly and adjustment work be carried out by a specialist dealer.

14. Saddle clamp bolts: Failure to tighten the saddle clamp bolt in accordance with the recommendations of the seatpost manufacturer may damage the seat tube and cause an accident.

15. Saddle adjustment: A saddle that is not correctly adjusted or does not fit properly can lead to injuries to soft tissues, nerves and blood vessels. Symptoms include pain, tingling, numbness or soreness.

16. Air hoses at petrol stations: Do not use air hoses at petrol stations to inflate your tyres. These air hoses may give inaccurate pressure readings and inflate the tyres too quickly, which can lead to damage or tyre blowouts.

17. Tyre clearance: For front forks, there must be at least 6 mm of tyre clearance when the air has been completely released from the fork and the fork is fully compressed. Measure around the edges of the inflated tyre and the fork crown, the fork legs and the head tube.

18. Luggage racks and trailers: The use of luggage racks or trailers may affect steering, suspension performance and other components, and increase braking distances. Do not overload the bicycle and ensure that luggage and rack components do not cover the lights or reflectors or come into contact with moving parts.

19. Maintenance intervals: Observe the maintenance intervals. These serve as a guideline for normal operation and may vary depending on conditions. Ensure that the bicycle is serviced in accordance with our specifications and that all maintenance work is documented. Components may fail if wear and damage are not identified in good time. In the event of an impact or an accident, consult your specialist dealer immediately for an inspection. Ensure that you carry out regular maintenance, frequent inspections and replace parts as required.
