Chassis service at STATERA
Our master bicycle mechanic, Moritz, carries out professional suspension servicing in our workshop. He takes care of the professional maintenance of suspension forks, shock absorbers and seat posts. With our new service, we offer you expert support to ensure better performance, optimal function and a long service life for your suspension.
Suspension fork
Whether you need a repair or a service to restore your suspension fork to its former performance, we’ll take care of your FOX, Marzocchi or RockShox fork with a quick service or a full overhaul.
Shock absorber
Your FOX, Marzocchi or RockShox shock absorber will also benefit from a service. Here too, we offer either a minor air chamber service or a full service, during which fresh oils and lubricants are used and all seals are replaced.
Seatpost
Telescopic seatposts have become an indispensable part of modern (e-)mountain bikes. We also recommend regular servicing to ensure that your FOX, Marzocchi or RockShox seatpost continues to perform as well as it did on the first day.
Why is suspension maintenance important?
Modern suspension components are highly complex systems. Dirt, wear and ageing oil gradually reduce performance. A structured service at STATERA goes beyond mere cleaning: we start with a visual inspection for external damage, followed by a functional check (rebound and compression stages). Only then do we proceed to dismantle the suspension and inspect the internal components.
The benefit for you: you’ll get your suspension back in a condition you can rely on – whether on a fast after-work ride, in the bike park or on technical terrain.
Minor service vs. major service
With most suspension components, you can choose between a minor and a major service. The minor service should generally be carried out approximately every 50 operating hours. It helps to prevent damage caused by contaminated lubricating oil and often restores significantly more responsiveness.
Depending on the manufacturer, a major service is usually advisable after around 125 to 200 hours of use. If your suspension is making squelching noises, the rebound or compression damping is no longer responding properly, or performance has dropped significantly, a major service is the right choice.
Wear and tear can vary considerably depending on how the bike is used. If you frequently ride in bike parks, at races, on hard trails or in muddy and dusty conditions, you should have your suspension serviced sooner than someone who mainly rides on forest tracks in good conditions.
When is a suspension service advisable?
A suspension service is definitely worth having at the latest when:
- Your fork or shock no longer responds sensitively
- Your suspension feels imprecise despite being correctly set up
- Reboundor compression damping no longer work properly
- You hear squelching or unusual noises
- Oil or dirt marks are visible on the seals
- Your dropper seatpost sags, responds slowly or doesn’t retract
- smoothly
- Your bike is frequently ridden in mud, dust, in the bike park or during races
Even if there are no immediate problems, regular servicing is advisable to prevent costly consequential damage to the seat tube, damping, air chamber or seals.

A fresh suspension service is often the most effective upgrade for your bike. More sensitivity, more support, more control – and a suspension system you can rely on again.

FAQs
