IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION FOR YOUR E-BIKE

Reading the safety information does not exempt you from the obligation to read and observe the operating instructions! Failure to observe the operating instructions can lead to dangerous riding situations, falls, accidents and damage to property.

In addition to the information in our operating instructions, please also observe the specifications of the component manufacturers >> see original operating instructions, General, Chapter 5. Component instructions.

I. Your specialist dealerOnly

use the e-bike once your specialist dealer has adjusted it to your requirements and tightened all screws as specified. Ask your

specialist dealer

to show you how to operate the e-bike.

Contact your specialist dealer if you are unable to carry out the work described in the instructions on your e-bike yourself, if you feel unsure or if you do not have the right tools.

You can find all

specialist dealers in your region on our website at www.focus-bikes.com/store-locator/.

II. Our Customer Care

Contact our Customer Care if you have any questions about your e-bike and the operating instructions and your specialist dealer are unable to help you.

III. Before your first ride

Only use the e-bike if you are sure that it is working properly, all parts are fully functional and all screws are tightened to the correct torque.

Familiarise yourself with the markings on your e-bike. Do not remove the barcode sticker and the type plate. They contain important information about your e-bike >> see the original operating instructions, General, Chapter 10.4 Barcode sticker and Chapter 10.5 Type plate.

Only use the e-bike in accordance with our specifications. Otherwise, components may fail and you could be seriously injured.

Observe the restrictions of the specified usage class. You can find out which usage class your e-bike is approved for from the graphic on the e-bike frame >> see Original Operating Instructions, General, Chapter 10.7 Intended Use.

Do not exceed the permissible total weight (total weight=e-bike weight + rider weight + payload + trailer) >> see original operating instructions, General, Chapter 12. Permissible total weight.

Observe our specifications for transporting people and loads >> see original operating instructions, General, Chapter 31. Luggage.

Do not exceed the load capacity of the front and rear luggage racks. The maximum load capacity is engraved on the luggage racks >> see original operating instructions, General, Chapter 30. Luggage racks.

It is not permitted to mount child seats on luggage racks of pedelecs with a load capacity of less than 27 kg. The use of child seats with the MIK HD system may be permitted on our MIK HD luggage carriers. If you have any questions in this regard, please consult your specialist dealer or the child seat manufacturer.

Do not make any changes to the drive system of the e-bike. If the cut-off speed exceeds 25 km/h and/or the speed of the push assist exceeds 6 km/h, your e-bike will be subject to registration and insurance requirements >> see the original operating manual, General Chapter 7. Legal requirements for participation in road traffic.

Do not exceed the service life of the components.

Observe the legal regulations applicable in the respective country for the use of e-bikes on public roads and equip your e-bike in accordance with the legal requirements of the country in which you intend to ride >> see original operating instructions, General, Chapter 7. Legal requirements for participation in road traffic.

Observe the regulations of the legislator, transport companies and the operating instructions for e-bike transport. Remove the battery before transporting the e-bike >> see original operating instructions, General, Chapter 32. Transporting the bike.

Familiarise yourself with the operation of quick-release skewers and thru axles. Quick-release skewers and thru axles must be closed correctly. If you are unsure, ask your specialist dealer to show you how to use them >> see original operating instructions, General, Chapter 27. Wheels and Chapter 17.1.2 Fastening with quick-release skewers.

The seat post must be inserted at least 10 cm deep into the seat tube. The minimum insertion depth of 10 cm also applies if the component instructions or the seat post itself specify lower minimum insertion depths. If a lower minimum insertion depth is specified (e.g. 12 cm), this must be observed.

Initially, familiarise yourself with the riding and braking behaviour, the electric assistance modes and the push assist (if available), especially when carrying different loads, in wet conditions and on loose ground >> see original operating instructions, General, Chapter 14. Before your first ride and >> original operating instructions, E-bike, Chapter Drive Unit – Operation and Chapter Display – Push Assist.

If you have purchased an e-bike with disc brakes, make sure that the brakes have been bedded in before your first long ride. The purpose of breaking in the brakes is to achieve optimum braking performance and minimise unpleasant noises.

IV. Before every ride >> see original operating instructions, General, Chapter 15, Before every ride.

Before every ride, check

the frame, fork, handlebar/stem unit, seat post, saddle and drive unit

in particular

for possible damage.

:

Check that the brakes, steering, drive unit and lights are working properly.

Check that the handlebars, stem, seat post, saddle, wheels, mudguards, quick-release skewers and pedals are secure

,

and check

the tyre pressure. This must not be exceeded or fallen short of.

If there is any damage (e.g. bent components, cracks, scratches and colour changes in areas subject to high stress) or malfunctions, have the e-bike repaired by your specialist dealer and replace defective components before using it again.

V. After riding

Be careful not to burn yourself when touching heated components (e.g. brake discs, drive unit, headlight).

VI

. Charging and using the battery >> see original operating instructions for e-bikes

,

chapter

on

batteries

Only use undamaged and unmodified batteries and chargers.

Observe the specifications for charging and using the battery, especially with regard to the ambient temperature and the location of the charging process.

VII. Cleaning >> see original operating instructions, General, Chapter 34. Cleaning the bicycle and its components

Do not clean the e-bike and its components with a high-pressure cleaner.

VIII. Assembly and adjustment work Switch

off the e-bike during assembly and adjustment work and remove the e-bike battery.

Observe the specified tightening torques (Nm) on the components and in the operating instructions. Use a torque wrench >> see original operating instructions, General, Chapter 13. Tightening torques for screw connections.

Never clamp the saddle in the bends of the saddle frame, but always in the straight section. Only move the saddle within the straight section and within the markings. Turn the clamping screws straight and completely into the nuts >> see original operating instructions, General, Chapter 18. Adjusting the saddle position and angle.

Contact your specialist dealer to adjust the spring elements.

Do not open the electronic components.

Only use original spare parts when replacing components and wear parts. In addition to original spare parts, compatible parts expressly approved by us may also be used. Your specialist dealer can help you with any questions you may have.

IX. Maintenance intervals >> see original operating instructions General 39. Maintenance

intervals Have the e-bike checked and serviced regularly by a specialist dealer in accordance with our specifications to avoid hazards (e.g. due to wear).

The first maintenance interval should take place after 100 kilometres or six weeks from the date of purchase at the latest. Please have subsequent maintenance carried out every 1000 kilometres or annually.

Replace the seat post after 14,000 kilometres (maintenance interval 8), unless the seat post manufacturer specifies a different interval in its instructions. The component must be replaced regardless of the material and whether there are any visible defects, cracks or damage on the outside. If the seat post is not replaced in good time, it may break and you could have a serious fall.

If your dealer has not provided you with a service booklet, you can download and print one yourself from our website: www.focus-bikes.com/manuals/service-booklet/sb-deutsch.pdf
